Meridian
A clean, data-forward interface for a financial analytics platform.
Product Design, UX Research

Meridian needed to turn dense financial data into something a non-technical user could read at a glance, which meant rethinking the dashboard rather than simply restyling it. We rebuilt the core interface from scratch, starting with how users actually scanned the previous version rather than assuming what mattered most. That research uncovered several assumptions the original product had gotten wrong.

Extensive user testing shaped the information hierarchy — the most-used numbers are always one glance away, with detail available on demand rather than shown all at once. We ran the design past both finance professionals and complete beginners to make sure the hierarchy worked for a wide range of comfort levels with financial data. Several rounds of testing led to simplifying charts that initially felt necessary but were actually adding noise.

A restrained color system reserves color purely for signal — gains, losses, and alerts — so the interface never feels noisy even when displaying dozens of data points at once. Neutral tones carry the bulk of the interface, which also made the product easier to use for long stretches without visual fatigue. This rule was strictly enforced across every new feature added after launch.

Post-launch metrics showed a significant drop in support tickets related to reading reports, validating the simplified structure the redesign was built around. Time spent per session also increased, suggesting users were engaging more deeply with the data rather than bouncing off a confusing interface. The team has since used this project as the reference standard for every new feature added to the platform.
